That's just my first impression. Contextual note, it's usually taken me a while to digest every Tool album.

Completely met and exceeded 13 years of hype and anticipation in my opinion.

Still finishing my first listen right now. It's certainly Tool, which is all I wanted. Really enjoying it so far but, yes, like every Tool album I probably won't get an opinion I can settle on...

EDIT: Okay, I've listened to it four times. I really like it.

I really liked Pneuma but Invicible sounded a bit boring/generic. Some tracks feels like the drummer and the guitarist jamming together. I'm a bit disappointed by the number of "real" tracks (6) but at least they are all long. They are still above to competition though. I need to listen to it more too.

Overall, I'm a latecomer. I didn't start listening until well after 10,000 Days came out, so I need to listen a few more times to get what's going on in Fear Inoculum.

Not a huge fan of the 2nd album, but this first one is the gift that keeps on giving for sure. I love that sort of casual underspoken, almost lo-fi vibe they have going on

    I have Marvin Gaye's 70s albums on a loop:

    • Trouble Man
    • Here, My Dear
    • Let's Get It On
    • I Want You
    • What's Going On

Incredible singer. It's a pity that music doesn't exist anymore. Having it all on a loop puts you in a fluid sort of mood; taking things not necessarily easier, but less nervously/dramatically.

And for really late at night: Prokofyev's Romeo & Juliet (especially the Knights' Dance).
