Their album Devil Is Fine still has a bit of that going on, but if anyone looking is turned off by Stranger Fruit but still likes the idea...maybe give that one a shot. It's significantly better imo.

Quick update. It's gospel by way of black metal and I love it.

I enjoy reading threads like these and those who make visualizations of what they listen to, so I made an app to do that.

It's a soundtrack on something on Netflix. Liked it enough that I tracked it down. I really enjoy this type of "Heavy Blues" (that's what I call it, dunno if there is a better genre name).

If you like that, look at some of the stuff from the Black Keys and the sound track from Black Snake Moan, especially the songs by Samuel L. Jackson. Love that stuff.

My queue of new music got me through a couple of interesting artists this week.

OSI (progressive metal) was an interesting one, mainly because I haven't gotten through much of the genre before. I enjoyed it a lot, and I'll certainly be looking for some similar artists in the future.

Local Natives - Dark Days is another one I enjoyed quite a bit. I guess I'd call it Dream Pop, but I find the style of it very relaxing regardless of what you might call it. I'll have to peruse their discography a bit more.

I also started listening to JR JR's new album, Invocations/Conversations, but haven't gotten all the way through. I've really enjoyed their past work, and I'm looking forward to listening to the rest of this. First half was very promising!

I recently discovered the Drive-By Truckers and listened to their 2001 album Southern Rock Opera. Great if you like southern rock, country, or alt-rock. Most of the songs are lyrically dense and talk on recent southern history (specifically Alabama), politics, racism, and most of all, Lynyrd Skynyrd.

I have been on a heavy vulfpeck kick lately. They have been my favorite band for the past 3-4 years it seems and I finally get to see them in concert next month! There was a site posted earlier this week that listed the top 25 songs on Spotify for the past 2 weeks(?) and 17 of them were Vulfpeck songs. What really got me excited for the concert was the a livestream recording of their concert in Brussels:

    https://youtu.be/dDL5k9LpZ9w?t=11

Vulfpeck to me is just one of the only bands where I can listen to any of their songs and just start tapping my feet and rocking my head. When my significant other listens to them she always ask who they are because they cover so many different sounds with funk.

I'm curious on what will be performed at the concert I am going since they released their latest album. It seems that they play songs from all their albums at shows so I hope I get a little bit of everything!

I feel like an ancient old lady trying to talk about what the kids are into, but I think I've started listening to SoundCloud rappers?

I've been feeling kinda down and listening to a lot of lofi hiphop (to set the mood here) when I came across 6 Dogs, some kind of mumbley teenage rapper. But it's so chill, I like that everyone takes a relaxed approach to the rapping, I like that it's all quite depressing.

A few of my favourites from the playlist I've put together:
Drifting - Pretty Pacc, 6 Dogs
Off The Gas - 6 Dogs, Lil Skies
i wrote this song 4 u - Lil Bo Weep
    hammer - nothing,nowhere
Falling Down - Lil Peep, XXXTENTACION

Edit: Here's the playlist if you want to give it a go:

As well as that, Jai Paul’s new single ‘Do You Love Her Now / He’ is an absolute cracker. I’m not normally one to go for these comparisons, but it really does remind me of a kind of Prince / Tame Impala / D’Angelo hybrid; ie. absolutely sick
