"NSFW", he said. I expected NSFW. This is just... gimmicky. Ooh, scare leather harnesses and slave masks!.. covered in rust. The music's okay. Sounds like what dubstep if dubstep were a love child...

The music's okay. Sounds like what dubstep if dubstep were a love child between europop and Neue Deutsche Härte. Cool beat, trying to be intense but just isn't. Grendel is up there as well, though I thought it was harsher a few years ago.

Just making sure y'all North-Americans get to experience some of the magic of Eurovision Song Contest. They didn't win, but boy will they be remembered.

What were your favorite entries for Eurovision this year? Mine was Poland, Portugal, Iceland (where this group is from), Georgia and France. Honorable mention to Hungary too, since I love Joci Pápai... but this song/performance was not nearly as good as his 2017 one IMO.

p.s. Sorry to any other NAs for all the videos being georestricted. They usually open them up a little while after the contest is over though. And if you want to watch them now, you can just VPN into Europe to watch them, like I do/did. ;)

“Acquired taste” favourite: KEiiNO from Norway. I mean, they are a super group of a gay guy, a blonde girl, and an “ethnic” guy. They know exactly what the Eurovision fans want. They're essentially Aqua 2.0. Naturally they won the people's vote, which is the only vote that matters. (Seriously though, fuck the jury vote.)

And Hatari, obviously. Because hatred will prevail, and Europe will fall.

Yeah, I really liked Lake Malawi too. Their song was catchy as hell. It would have been one of my favorite entries too, if only it didn't have the speaking parts and had a different singer, since something about him really rubbed me the wrong way. Spain's entry was super cheesy, but also really fun and catchy as well.

Spain getting so few votes is seriously a crime. It's an instant summer hit if I've ever heard one. I am having a vacation in Greece in July, and I am expecting to hear that song out of every radio.

Obligatory mentioning of the balagan where winners and runner-ups of previous contents sang each others' songs. Verka Serduchka is a national treasure of Ukraine.

Not much I like seems to do well in Eurovision, and I am resigned to that fact, so I tend to completely ignore the outcome and votes. ;) I didn't know about that song swap though. That was great!...

It was a bit too understated for me, especially for Eurovision... but yeah it was still a nice song and I really liked it too.

But my favourite performance was Australia. By a mile.

Honourable mention to Ukraine, which ended up not participating for rather dumb reasons.

And Sweden is kinda controversial, at least according to all my Swedish friends. Half of them thought it should win, the other half hated it. I just thought it was alright.

Australia, same as Albania for me; The presentation was amazing and I totally understand why it was so many people's favorite, but the song itself and the singing was meh IMO. But as I said above, "Not much I like seems to do well in Eurovision, and I am resigned to that fact", so I know my tastes aren't typical for most Eurovision viewers. :P
