A lot of it – the more-upbeat compositions – remind me of either the Wild West songs, or the Irish ones. They're definitely Indian – particularly because my Western-ish ear is unaccustomed to the sounds and the melodies – but there are similarities I can't but admit. Which is interesting, considering how far apart the cultures seem to be. But then, we're all one people, shaped by the places we come from.
I like how upbeat some of them are, too. Full of life. It's something I've always appreciated about India and the lot of surrounding cultures/peoples: the bright colors, which seem almost shameful to display in the West (and in Russia, in particular).
Junoon's Sayonee, in particular, reminds me the soundtrack for Bastion, which took its inspiration partly from the Wild West-era guitar melodies. Listen to A Proper Story and Terminal March. Maybe a little bit of Bynn the Breaker.
And Kooth over Coffee is just delightful.
On my own end, I've been enjoying Halo Sol's Comin' in Hotta. It came from the stranger of places: Last Week Tonight's season 6 trailer. I'm lovin' it.
Did I say Voodoo in My Blood by Massive Attack already? 'cause it's hypnotizing. Already on the list of the songs of the year.

Unrelated, but I think you mentioned somewhere that you write, is there anywhere we can read some of your work? Have to go for now but I would be happy to recommend some more music.
I'll give them a listen and let you know what I think. Might take a while again: I only go into the "discover new music" phase sometimes.
I've posted a thing or two here and there online – nothing I'd be willing to present right now.
I am, however, finishing something called 2011. If you know what "worldbuilding" means, you'll know what kind of a thing 2011 is. If you don't, it's a description of a fictional world – its own sort of plotless writing. 2011 is based on the world of the Harry Potter books, except it's a modernized reinterpretation, intended to portray wizards as more than medieval mystics. Smartphone magic, plastic wands, fictional spaces... the stuff.
After that, I'm writing the Dark Side – a personal worldbuilding project of mine, based on an idea that magic came into the world in 1942, in the middle of WWII. Now, mages live in society as mostly-regular citizens. In this world, there are two Russias, following a revolution and a change of the leadership. I'm looking to explore both what it means to be a mage in the modern society – the jobs, the magic's interaction with with usual life – and what it could mean to have two sides of Russia start giving a shit about their well-being and taking care of themselves.
People generally expressed more interest in the latter, for whatever reason.

The depression came back with a vengeance the past week or so. So I made a playlist of bluegrass/folk/americana and it's probably the most cathartic music there is. And there's a good mix of depressing songs and uplifting songs that can kind of carry me through the struggle and keep me going.
My playlist has The Steeldrivers, Gillian Welch, Brown Bird, Trampled by Turtles, The Dead South, and a handful of others. But that's a fun hole to start falling into once you discover more groupss/artists.
Bluegrass is fantastic for mood enhancement. It's very hard for me to have bad thoughts when I'm listening to it.
Have you ever listened to Conor Oberst? He seems to fit into a sort of indie-folk/americana vibe. He's also a great song writer.
Gunship's. Retro future synthwave aesthetic has been in heavy rotation for me lafely
Ah man, this is great. I've found these genres difficult to navigate through because it's the subtle differences that tells them apart and my body yearns a specific sound when listening to these genres. I can't put my finger on it but it's probably a mix of nostalgia and anemoia. This hits the spot well. Every outro sounds like the credits rolling from an 80s movie.
Iron Maiden after 20 years.... What an energy bomb....!!
Cheeto's Magazine's new album Amazingous. They're a prog rock band from Spain. It's very interesting.
I'm a huge fan of The Revivalists and I've been getting into some of their older work like the City of Sound. Their newer song Change is a bop and I highly recommend giving a listen.
I've actually been listening to a lot of the Jimmy Eat World album "Integrity Blues". I've been in a bit of a identity crisis lately, and it seems to actually comfort me and also be completely relatable.
Finally listened to Burning Alive by CrazyEightyEight (genre: Post-Hardcore), as well as Who Do You Trust? by Papa Roach (genre: Electronic Rock, Rap Rock).
I wasn't overall a fan of the new Papa Roach album but it had a couple of decent tracks, but I'm absolutely in love with CrazyEightyEight. I, personally, would have gauged them as also being a bit Metalcore but the Post-Hardcore designation comes from Jarrod Alonge's Wikipedia page, who is a member and the creator of CrazyEightyEight.
As I hinted in a comment in another group, I've been listening to a lot of lofi hiphop recently. Things like Idealism - Hibraeth and City Girl - Neon Impasse. There's a lot of jazz elements but also some more electronic elements. No lyrics so nothing to distract you while you're focusing. Of course, if you're familiar with this kind of thing, particularly on YouTube, Chilled Cow is an obligatory mention. I don't know how, but the anime aesthetic just works for me.
I discovered Yellow Magic Orchestra's Rydeen on Tildes . I've never been into electronic music but I liked what I heard. I did listen to some more of their music and liked a couple of pieces too.
