Today I listened to Poets of the Fall and System of a Down, which are my two favorite bands. This week I also treated myself to Thick as a Brick by Jethro Tull for probably the 200th time in my life.

Dave Keuning, the guitarist & one of the songwriters for The Killers is putting out a solo album (Prismism), and it's actually pretty good.
The best track so far IMO is Restless Legs which sounds absolutely dope. If you like the killers, or new wave, or just catchy ass pop music, it's an easy recommend.

I've been listening to LP a lot recently.
Various stuff from Portugal that I collected into this playlist a couple days ago.
I'm studying European Portuguese and I collected these songs to help with that. But boy, Portugal's music is beautiful! I don't want to potentially offend any Italians around here, but when I was learning Italian, it was so hard to find any good music that I could listen everyday. It took me four years to find stuff like Gnut and Annalisa that I could enjoy casually.

I'll tell you what I haven't been listening to: Tedeschi Trucks Band and The Marcus King Band. When I know I'm seeing a certain band soon, I try to stay away from their music in the days leading up to the show. I call it the "virgin ears" treatment - just fun to hear the music fresh for the first time in a while. And what a show it was. TTB covered a favorite of mine, I Walk on Gilded Splinters, that I'd only heard Derek Trucks perform when he was still with the Allman Brothers Band. They also did Don't Think Twice, It's Alright (Bob Dylan) and The Sky is Crying (Elmore James).
Been stuck on "twenty one pilots - Vessel" (album) this week, some really good songs on there that really outperform their newer songs in my opinion.
Kinda looking for more similar artists like it as well, so if anyone has any recommendations I'm open for it.
Yeah, Vessel really outshines all of their most recent content. I haven't been impressed since. It seems that they went for a much more angsty feel for the newest ones and it's very off-putting because it all sounds very samey. Vessel and Regional at Best are, in my opinion, their best work
I've been listening to Kaikhosru Shapurji Sorabji's 'Symphonic Nocturne' in preparation for the 'Toccata Seconda' concert this Sunday!

It may sound difficult at first, and I must say 'Symphonic Nocturne' is not a particularly good introduction to Sorabji's music; for that I would recommend the Nocturne from Transcendental Studies, which I believe is on youtube. The waltz from Sequentia Cyclia Super Dies Irae is one of my favorites, but alas not free anywhere online. While his musical language is certainly complex, its complexity lends it a power of expression equal to the greatest composers I have heard. The gargantuan lengths of his compositions also make listening to one a very significant experience not to be taken lightly!

I bought Psychostick's latest album, Do, this week. It's great and funny just like I hoped it would be.
This week has been a nostalgia trip for me. I got ahold of my old PC from when I was in high school from my parents when I visited them, and have been having some fun going through what I listened to then. I was deep into a ska phase right around the time, and I've had Five Iron Frenzy's Upbeats and Beatdowns specifically on a lot. To this day they're one of the few overtly-religious bands I've liked, and they have that distinctive third-wave sound that's still a lot of fun to get down to.

I've been getting a lot into Vulfpeck and Still Woozy lately. Other artists i've been diggin are Billie Eilish, and Lawrence. Here are a few song choices for each i think are worth giving a listen:
My music preference is generally a mess, since I don't dislike a majority of music (but generally don't prefer some either)
I also don't listen to new artists/bands that often either, which I need to change
however, I do have a few I've been listening to frequently:

Demon Hunter - The Negative
HEALTH - Crusher
Pendulum - Granite
The Prodigy - Champions of London
Tonic - Future Says Run - Loving the entire album this is off of so far and it's very unfortunate that these guys succumbed to 90's one hit wonder syndrome.
Maroon 5 - Shiver - There's a very commonly held notion about Maroon 5, and it's that Songs About Jane is the best and only Maroon 5 album. That beginning guitar riff reminds me a lot of Santana, and a lot of this album is very Jamiroquai-esque.
Five Iron Frenzy - Handbook For The Sellout - Another eclectic 90's Ska/Punk-pop band, except these guys have some Christian. This song isn't but they have some songs that are preachy on the same album. These guys had attitude, and this album is very witty and fun to listen to
Barenaked Ladies - Sell, Sell, Sell - After an unfortunate One Hit Wonder from One Week , these guys dropped from the public eye rather quickly. However, the band is insanely talented and versatile when you compare One Week's album and the album this song is on. They kind of remind me of Matchbox Twenty but without a scientologist half-grunge vocalist
Periphery - Lune - The band metalheads love to hate, Periphery manages to blend sick/crushing guitar riffs and blast beats with soft, melodic vocals. Which, apparently, is tantamount to shitting on the metal bible for a lot of metal purists. This song sounds beautiful to me and showcases Periphery's versatility and their willingness to bend the genre they've unfairly been placed in to whatever they want. Spencer has a decidedly punk-pop voice that might be grating for some people, but I find his range and control to be admirable and pleasant to behold. P3 is a very solid album, and their song Flatline shows off how dynamic they can be.
TesseracT - Dystopia - Tesseract is a lot like Periphery, but a lot more djent and a more agreeable vocalist. This song is funky, catchy, and badass all at once. That bass is fantastic, and that break near the middle ("I won't dance, because you want me to") sounds awesome alongside the bass.
Blind Melon - Deserted - Everything about this song is fantastic. Seriously. It's a god damn shame Blind Melon's only hit was "No Rain", because tracks like this are a much better example of their range. These guys created fantastic music with the best parts of great rock bands before them. Rest In Peace, Shannon Hoon.
