What have you been listening to this week?

Hi, I'm filling in for @Whom, since she told me she wouldn't be around to post this and asked that I make sure to post it.

What have you been listening to this week? You don't need to do a 6000 word review if you don't want to, but please write something!

Feel free to give recs or discuss anything about each others' listening habits.

You can make a chart if you use last.fm:

Remember that linking directly to your image will update with your future listening, make sure to reupload to somewhere like imgur if you'd like it to remain what you have at the time of posting.

Flying Microtonal Banana by King Gizzard and the Wizard Lizard. The album is just so darn catchy, even if the same riffs pop up fairly often. Before that was Koloss by Meshuggah. Sometimes I just get stuck on a favorite album and listen to it constantly. That may have been last week, but King Giz was definitely this week.

I'm also listening to clipping and Open Mike Eagle's catalogs on Spotify, both are rap acts I really dig, they help fill the silence at school, and OME specifically is just very relaxing, even when he's going all in on a track. These four sets of music, independently, are most of my listening for the past two weeks.

I've also been craving mellow music. I can take or leave OME but have enjoyed the lofi hiphop trend in general (not sure if he exactly fits that or not). I gave Banana a shot and like it. Thanks...

I gave Banana a shot and like it. Thanks for sharing. Given your tastes, I thought you might like the band Morphine. Their sound is similar to the drug.

Unwound - Leaves Turn Inside You - I relistened to this after I decided to listen to The Light at the End of the Tunnel is a Train and it clicked super hard. I used to get very tired of the way Unwound sounded at around half or 2/3 through most of their albums, but something in me changed and now I'm in love with Leaves at least. Remains to see whether my opinion on the others will change.

Drop Nineteens - Mayfield - Really crispy lofi shoegaze. Drown in the fuzzy guitars that are also compressed to hell and back.

Interpol - Marauder - Didn't like it. Just sounds muddy as hell and really ugly, but that's kind of been the Interpol mixing method since their self-titled album. Disappointing, but I didn't get my hopes up that much for it anyway.

I gave Neko Case's new album a spin the other day and really enjoyed it. I'll be seeing her in concert in a couple of weeks.

Toe just released their new EP, The Future is Now so I've been giving that some listens.

Also been shuffling up a lot of my music collection and just letting it play. Anything from Mogwai (Post Rock) to Androp (Japanese Rock) to Domenico Scarlatti (Classical). Also been going through my ~ question about albums/bands people didn't see themselves getting into!

I've been listening to Iglooghost's Clear Tamei album. It's pretty great, definitely in my top ten. I'm not sure what about it I love but it's doing something right.

That has to be the most European thing I've seen in a long while, thanks for exposing me to it.
